Grapefruit Gin // Bitter Drinks for Sweeter Days.
When I made the strawberry gin a few weeks ago, I loved how refreshing, sweet and spring-y it felt. Even though based on the same alcohol, it sure made a lot of difference with the strawberries and everything (in comparison to the classic G&T that I love). So, I wanted to try something a little different, while keeping gin (cause it’s just so fine) as the base. I decided to go with grapefruit (mostly because I already had some at home, so…), and I had my doubts, given how both gin and grapefruit have that bitter tone. But, with just the right amount of sugar, it’s just the right amount of bitter for a day that’s most certainly gonna be sweeter (it’s true if it rhymes, right?).
Grapefruit Gin Recipe.
Time to Make // In a blink of an eye
Serves // Two
– 120 ml (4 oz) Gin (I used Beefeater)
– 2 Grapefruits
– 3 Teaspoons Sugar (1/2 for each)
– Fresh Rosemary (optional, for garnish)
– Club Soda
This is pretty simple. Gather all ingredients around, and start by cutting the grapefruits in halves. Cut two slices of them for garnish, squeeze the juice from the rest of the grapefruits, and set this aside. Put the sugar in the glasses, and then add few drops of the grapefruit juice for the sugar do dissolve. Fill the glasses with ice cubes (almost right to the top), and then pour the gin. Mix everything gently, with a straw, and then pour some club soda (somewhat similar to the amount of gin you poured). Style the grapefruit gin drinks with the grapefruit slices and some rosemary and… oh, yes, Cheers, pal.
And what’s you go-to drink that makes the day just a little sweeter? Share it in comments. And also, if you liked this, I wouldn’t mind at all if you were to share it with your palls. Have a great tipsy Friday!
