Arty’s Getaway: Elevating a Summer Classic // Ice Cream + Fruits – Simple in terms of prepping & goes a long way in showing your guests a little extra love.
A few days ago, I went to see my friend Nikola’s parents, it was an unplanned – I’m just gonna go and call it – coffee date. I’ve been a guest in their house many many times, and what always impresses me (other than these guys being always totally warm and welcoming, and even more than aunt Milica’s cuisine game), is that she always has a kick-ass dessert to serve. As someone who only has desserts to serve for special occasions, this unexpected little gesture sure felt like quite the special treat for me.
Anyways, it was ice cream (I think it was vanilla + chocolate) combined with pieces of different fruits (peaches, bananas…). It’s so simple in terms of putting together, but it sure goes a long way in making your guests feel appreciated and welcomed. It’s especially great when you’re having a busy day, meaning no time to prep something from scratch. And it’s summer, so you might be keeping one package of ice cream in the freezer for unplanned occasions.. Or you’re like me & you keep these sorts of thing in your stomach, but you can always pick one at the (nearest) market. Just add your favorite fruits or the ones you have at the counter, and top with chocolate topping. You’ll have a nice, fresh, Summer dessert , and your guests will absolutely love the effort!
Start with some fruits at the bottom of the glass/bowl, then ice cream, and continue with this until full. This way you’ll make sure that with every bit of ice cream, a fruit will come as well. Also, the ice cream I served was creme brulee.
