My bestie made these Boozy Snacks for our gal-palls-at-home-night, and we couldn’t have enough of them. Continue below for the recipe & few movie suggestions for a kick-ass low-key Friday.
About a month or so, my bestie and I had a low-key evening-date at her place. We don’t see each other that much, not as nearly as we used to due to our separate busy lives. So when we do hang out, it’s precious (this goes for all my friends). And, we don’t always prep stuff ourselves for our hang-outs, but when I told her that I was coming, she decided to make these delicious and boozy snack for our date. Thoughtful girl! Why boozy you might ask. They’re made with beer (among other things), so that means that your low-key Friday snacks actually require some beer. And beer’s always good.
I didn’t see the prepping process (which would make things even easier), I arrived during the first batch (is it just me or this does sound like some historic event?). Once they were done, we seriously couldn’t stop eating them. And like I said, beer. So… Head on below to check out the recipe, and then a little below-er for several movie suggestions. I hope you low-key Friday goes great!
Boozy Snacks Recipe.
– 250 ml (8.5 Oz) Olive Oil
– 250 ml Beer
– 250 ml Sesame Seeds
– 250 ml Sunflower Seeds
– 1 Teaspoon Salt
– 25 gr Baking Powder
– around 750 gr Flour
Turn the oven to 200 degrees. In a large bowl mix all the ingredients, and then knead the dough until everything is mixed together. When you’re done with this, get your rolling pin and spread the dough so that it’s around 1 cm thick. With a star mold, make your star bites on the entire dough. Once there’s no place for more, instead of “taking out” the stars, just remove the dough that’s outside of them. This won’t mess your bites’ star shape. Place the star bites on a baking pan, and then in the stove. Bake for around 20 minutes. And done.
*Note This amount of ingredients will make you a s*it ton of star bites. But, here’s your chance to be a good neighbor, so fill a plate, and bring that to your neighbors, sharing is good, you know. Expect, of course, if your neighbors are douche-bags.
1. Another Earth – 2011.
Drama, Romance, Sci-Fi // 1 Hour 30 Minutes
A devastating car accident connects the lives of an aspiring student and professional composer. This happens when a duplicate of Earth is discovered. It’s a Sci-Fi movie telling a tragic story with a promising end.
2. Get Hard – 2015.
Comedy, Crime // 1 Hour 40 Minutes
Kevin Hart and Will Ferrell, I mean, is there anything else you want me to say so that you’ll believe that this is hilarious? In case the answer’s yes, Kevin Hart high-pitch screaming, Ferrell’s (he plays a genuinely good guy) sick swearing and trash talk (“hey, son, you are a disappointment to your parents… who I fucked” and so on), two guys getting hard… I mean, hilarious!
3. CBGB – 2013.
Drama, Music // 1 Hour 40 Minutes
I love music-related movies, especially if the plot is based on real events (I think I’ve suggested one in each of my Low-Key Fridays series). CBGB introduces the punk-rock scene in New-York in the 70s through CBGB – a nightclub where new artists have their gigs, many of who have later become famous musicians making history (Patti Smith, the Talking Heads, Blondie, the Ramones, the Police, Beastie Boys and so on. Also, Alan Rickman’s portrait of Hiilie Crystal, the founder of CBGB, is impeccable, as always.
I’d love to hear your movie suggestions, since I’ve seen all of mine… Be a pal, and share your thoughts! Happy Friday.
