If you’re here without a large cup of coffee, you probably won’t make it to the end of this post haha. But seriously tho, I’m gonna wait here, you grab your coffee, sit down and let’s have an honest talk about you and this blog in 2019. And also, what’s in January’s email for you.
Hey y’all! I hope you stayed warm and safe during this holiday season, that you spend the best of times with your loved ones, and that you’re ready to continue kicking ass in 2019!
Like I’ve written here, 2018 sure was a great year! But what’s really exciting now is the beginning of a new one! And I mean, yes, I know – you can do whatever the fuck you want any time of the year. It doesn’t have to be the start of a new one for you to decide to do something new, make a change, set new goals or anything. Still, there is something about a brand new day, week, month, and something about a brand a new year.
So, like I’m sure many of you do, I too took a look at 2019 to try and visualize what do I want to happen this year. I started asking myself all these questions. What do I want to accomplish, both personally and professionally? Plans and goals for this blog in 2019? Trying to identify what’s been working and what wasn’t. Meaning what can I keep doing and what can I do differently and better? Finding out what it is my readers – you guys, actually need from this blog, what will be valuable, useful and let’s not forget fun for y’all? Answering all these questions (and many, many others, believe you me) was as exhaustively frustrating as it was fun tbh haha.
It all made me realize something. I could be doing way more with this blog! It could be far more helpful and inspiring for you. Attempting to answer all that reminded me why I started doing this in the first place. What kind of ideas I wanted to spread when I was first starting it. Like, it was always about diy projects and crafts and all, of course! But it was also about so much more than just that.
For example, learning how to fucking adult for starters haha. Finding better ways to do everyday shit, you know? Tips I’ve found helpful in everyday situations and that I think will help you too. Or sharing awesome books that I loved reading and felt like I’ve just been in a whole new world and my life will never be the same. And wanting you to experience something similar. Dream spaces, interior goals. Referencing the fuck out of TV shows. Learning how to be good to yourself. Memes <3 Learning how to make the best out of every situation. Relaxing, having fun, alone or with people you love. Laugh, laugh, laugh.
It was about providing this super fun little corner of the internet, you know? A quick virtual getaway for you to come, hang in peace, get artsy, find a diy idea & try to make it yourself. Or read something that will help you solve that thing that’s been bugging you. Or just something that will make you laugh. And than get back to real life, feeling calm, inspired, able to deal with random everyday shit. Man, reminding myself of all of this, it felt like coming back home I don’t know… I’ve felt so lost so many times with this blog.
At times it wasn’t growing at the pace I imagined back when I had no earthly idea what am I putting myself into. Hello very unrealistic expectations haha. And the internet is all noise, everyone’s got something to say, or to sell, or to show, or whatever. And it’s a little hard to be heard and easy to get tangled up in other people’s dreams, goals, stories, ideas, beliefs, lives. And the “everyone’s got it all figured out (except you)” picture that social media (I’m looking at you Instagram) keep wanting us to believe in, isn’t helping. So, it all made me wander a bit.
I’m not making excuses here, don’t get me wrong. And I’m also not being a total hard-ass on myself. I’m just saying it how it feels, how it is. I know now what I didn’t know then because of all this pressure and shit I was talking about above and because I was starting something. Becoming good at something takes time. I know now that even then, when I felt like I’m maybe drifting a little from my original intent with Arty’s Getaway, or when it all seemed like it’s going nowhere, I was still doing my best. It was truly my best, doing what I possibly could with what I had at a certain moment. This was another immensely freeing thought for me, you know?
So, what’s in the plans for You and Arty’s Getaway in 2019?
2019 will be a year of shifting back to what feels right to me. Instead of trying to follow someone else’s journey from behind, I’m gonna go on my own. Instead of focusing on what and how other bloggers or entrepreneurs are doing, I’m gonna focus on what you guys need and want, and if it’s something that I can help you with in any way (even just for fun be it), then that’s what I’ll be doing. This blog was always supposed to be a little fun haven for both you and me, and I’m so happy to say that I’ll be working precisely on making it that!
I’ll be introducing some changes on the blog all year round, as they feel right, right? There will be new blog post topics to start with… Will continue to share different diy projects of course, but will also give shot to bigger diy home projects. There will also be topics relating self care, everyday life tips and tricks, interiors ideas (divided into rooms and spaces), organization tricks that I’m trying and that work, more recipes…
Another change will be a new posting schedule. After realizing (around a year ago) that writing 5 posts a week while also doing everything else myself was only making me miserable, and not to mention how it compromised the quality of the content I was sharing, I started publishing only 1 post per week (Wednesdays). It was a great decision, even tho it didn’t exactly feel like one. But, I feel like the time has come to level up on the number of posts I share weekly. It’s gonna be more than once, but since I’m still working on the content, I won’t start for a little while still. I’m giving myself a head start haha. Loose the “start” and it’s like Marilyn Manson talking himself haha.
So, before I give the mic to you (it’s methaphoricaaaal, remember Taserface?), cause I got questions for you my friend, let’s just go over what’s in January’s email fun for you real quick (I’m gonna make some changes there too, working on that too, you’ve been warned, but it’s not gonna be bad for you, know that!)
January 2019 Email Fun Reveal.
The best book I read in 2018 and actually maybe ever was the 4 Agreements. I’ve shared this on Instagram already, but in case you missed it or don’t follow me, see it here. It’s a life-changing book and I wanna tell everyone about it! Among the many thoughts of wisdom this book has taught me, the “Always do Your Best” is one that hit home too hard. I was always so so hard on myself, even if something happened & it wasn’t my fault, I always tried so hard to find the wrong thing that I personally did, always guilt-tripping the fuck out of myself. Obviously that never works wonders, right?
This books explains it oh so simple. Always do your best, but know that your best is not gonna always be the same. And that’s fine, as long as it’s your best! Fuck! Some days you’ll get a shit load of work done in less time, and others you can only do so much. But as long as you’re doing your best, whatever the fuck your best is at a certain moment, it’s all good. I’m not sure if I’m doing a great job explaining this, and I mean after typing more than 1400 words, I can’t feel my fingers, let alone know what I’m talking about haha. But, I think you’ll do your best to understand me, right?
Just let this “Doing My Best” poster here serve you as a reminder to stop being so hard on yourself & realize that some days you’re gonna move mountains, and others you’re gonna fuck up a simple salad. And it’s all good, you’re doing your best!

Fuck me that was a looong post! Okay, I’m stopping rn, after I ask you this: Please, share you thoughts – what would you like to read more about in 2019 on this blog? What kind of diy projects would you be most interested in? Do you wanna maybe start a blog, but don’t know how or stuff like that? Are you struggling with some things in life, and don’t know how to deal with? What’s keeping you awake at night? Look, I’m not gonna pretend to have all the answers, and fuck, I probably won’t be able to help with absolutely everything every one of you guys shares, but damn it, I’m gonna try! If I can’t, I’ll find someone who can and point you to them haha. Let’s make the best out of this blog for both you and me, okay? Looking forward yo hearing from y’all! <3
Wasn’t this PINTERESTING (besides really really long haha)?
