The new season is just around the corner, and I’m making a Summer To-Do list packed with some fun summer activities, and several must duties.
While I managed to cross off many of the things from my Spring To-Do List (white-painted walls, not-so-detailed-but-spring cleaned around, the blog’s birthday, organized clothes and SOME of my stuff; my God I have so much unnecessary shit) there were some that didn’t quite happen. To be fair, some were obviously not going to happen, and I sorta knew this (at least subconsciously) from the moment I’ve written them down (like us playing tennis). Some happened somewhat different than first planned (like, there wasn’t a picnic in the park, but we gathered in Mara’s backyard one afternoon, we sat around a small table on blankets barbecue-and-beer-ing until the night fell well on, and had quite the time).
Since I love writing stuff down, making lists and all of that, and I’m excited about the upcoming season, I decided to make summer to-do list (applying some of the things I’ve learned from the Spring to-do list, like keeping it real). Head on below to see what’s on my list.
*Note Somewhat randomly ordered.
This is the thing that didn’t quite happen. And while I don’t mind taking responsibility for my shortcomings or whatnot, this kinda was out of my powers. This spring most accurately fits into the “when it rains, it pours”. So, I would plan to paint them the next day, and then, the next day, the skies are opening. And when it was warm and sunny, I had already planned the day with several priority-activities. Since it’s so ugly, it kinda naturally just transitioned from my Spring’s to Summer To-Do List.
Angela and I have been wanting to buy a pool set for the backyard for several summers now. So, this time we finally actually did it. Since going on a vacation doesn’t seem to be in the cards for neither of us this year, we decided to invest in a pool set for grown ups. It doesn’t cost that much for something that will keep us cool for the upcoming hot days, and also guarantees great fun and quality time with our closest people. So, it’s quite the little investment and a reminder that life is supposed to be fun.
Okay, this is embarrassing and probably slap-on-the-face worthy, but I’ve finished all my exams more than 2 years ago, but I still don’t have my diploma. It’s not because someone’s decided to just not give it to me (although, that would be easier in terms of me having an excuse for not having the diploma yet), but because I’ve been postponing writing my papers, set the date for presentation and just get over with it. But, oh no. Let that shit linger around as long as possible. And I can no longer think of it as something that I have to do, something that’s always in my planner, but just getting skipped, it starts getting in the way, really. While I don’t see myself trying to make my career in logistics, it is something that I, myself, chose and started, so I have to finish it. I wouldn’t wanna let myself just give up right at the end. It’s actually even worse if it’s something you don’t like; you’ve invested years in that shit, and didn’t give up, why giving up now, at the finish line?
I can’t wait to get all of our friends together in our backyard. I’m picturing it, some are in the pool, some are just hanging around, holding their drinks in their hands, talking to each other, laughing. Others hand by the barbecue. My two friends’ kids are playing around with Phoebe. I’m so happy now, just thinking about all the great times we’ve spent together and all the even greater in front of us (cause things only get greater with time, right?) I only hope that we’ll manage to all find free time (at the same time), and make some awesome memories.
Last year I was in charge of the invitations, and helped Mara with the all-things-tropical decorations. This year it will be a slightly different theme (also summery), and both of us have so much ideas, I can’t wait to start the process.
I have several plans for another fun giveaway for you guys, and putting it in the Summer To-Do List makes it official, but you’ll hear all about it when the time is right.
I’ve just realized, I have so much plans and great ideas for this summer, like this one here, I’m starting to lightly freak-out if there’s actually time to do everything (but not just do, do it great).
I love long walks, especially in warm summer nights. Even though in my country taking a walk should be considered extreme sporting since there are cars parked on the pavements or no pavements at all, little to no street lights, more and more crazy people around, and lots of drunk car drivers with fancy cars. Which makes us Night walkers quite the daredevils.
And what’s on your Summer To-Do List? How will you spend the upcoming season? Share in comments, I’d love to read what you’re up to!
