Tropical // All Things Flowers, Leaves and Pineapples Kimono.
Before we get to the actual kimono, I would like to share a little something with you about my overall feels when it comes to shopping for clothes. I don’t exactly love it. It’s weird, really. While I love the idea of having multiple different-occasions outfits, lots of nice & cool clothing items to choose from, tons of shoes, and all kinds of accessories (so I’m partially a very normal girl), except the shopping part. I don’t exactly go through stores and boutiques just ’cause, you know. No, no. I almost always do this when I need to buy something for an event, or if the “jeans in my knees have seen better days” (listening to Wildewoman by the amazing Lucius) moment happens. Rarely do I buy clothes randomly.
Maybe it’s ’cause of the pressure of being in actual real need of something. Or, maybe it’s because my budget has me confused – the “I don’t like shopping” part may actually mean “No, no, it’s not that. You just can’t possible buy that!”. So I’m subconsciously trying to come to terms with what (at the moment) is (and let me tell you, this moment lasts a while longer, all right. But, Gary says Patience, so Patient I will be). Or, maybe I just genuinely don’t feel great about shopping. I’m always exhausted, trying out tons of shit to find one that fits perfectly. Maybe it’s not the kind of “play time” for me.
Anyways… Sometimes, I’ll stumble upon something that’s gonna look & feel so, so good, that it makes everything a lot less overwhelming, and actually worth it. This time it was on a wedding-outfit hunt (for the third time in the mall in a week; another great find from the hunts here), and it was the smoothest kimono with the most awesome tropical print. It was one of those I-have-to-have-this moments, so my wedding-outfit hunt was finally, but most importantly, happily, finished.
For this occasion, I paired it with an all-black underneath, so that the tropical print and the shape of the kimono stood out. But, it will work just as easy and great with a plain blue, sorta baggy, high-waist jeans, a simple white top and slides for a coffee date. Or an all white combo under. Or as a tropical little dress, if you style it with a thin belt, and slides for a walk by the beach. And so on, and so on. I really consider this one of my best clothes-wise investment, since it offers variety of options, but most importantly, I already have shit to pair it with, so… And have I mentioned how soft it is?
*Behind the Scenes Story // Angela and I have been “scheduling” this photo shoot for several days now. And, and this is kinda big for me, I’m in an okay-let’s-do-this-outside mood, meaning I’ve finally decided to get out of my comfort zone, at least when it comes to me striking poses for an outfit shoot, outside, where there are people and everything. So, we scheduled it first for Monday, but then rain happened. So, the outside part fell off. But, I was determined that I wanna do this out, so we then moved it for Tuesday. And, once again, rain. And, then yesterday evening, I got a little pissed off, checking out what the weather dude’s saying about Wednesday, and I said “okay, fuck this, we’ll do it tomorrow. Rain or shine, I don’t care. This is happening.”. As we were about to start with it, it was cloudy. But, so then it shone… And so it hit me, I may have superpowers…
